MVA Sends One to the Trauma Center and One Fatality

At approximately 1:30pm on Friday, January 29th, Hollywood Fire Dept, Hollywood Rescue Squad, Leonardtown Fire Dept., Leonardtown Rescue Squad, and the Medic Unit were dispatched to Vista Rd. and Ferguson Rd. for an MVA with entrapment and on fire.
The truck was involved in a police chase that led the driver out of control and into a tree. The truck caught fire, in which MSP on the scene put it out with a fire extinguisher.
Squad 7 and Squad 1 went to work to free the passenger who was unconsious and unreponsive. The driver was out of the vehicle and handcuffed, but complaining of back pain and was categorized as a "C" and sent to the Trauma Center. Ambulance 198 handled the flyout with the assistance of Co 39's ambulance crew.
Crews worked for over 25 minutes unable to free the trapped occupant. The patient succummed of his injuries and the Crash Team took over the scene.
